Yes!, mainly due to the high potassium they contain. Potassium strengthens the plant’s stems and helps them fight off disease as it moves nutrients and water between cells.
Using Banana peels on fruit trees and flowering plants helps in the production of flowers and makes fruits taste better.
Banana peels are good fertilizer because of what they do not contain, which is nitrogen. They contain absolutely no nitrogen. Remember, too much nitrogen will create lots of green leaves. but little fruit.
So what veggies benefit from banana peels?
Plants like tomatoes, peppers, and flowers. Banana peels also contain calcium, which prevents blossom end rot in tomatoes. The manganese in banana peels aids photosynthesis, while the sodium in banana peels helps water flow between cells. They even have traces of magnesium and sulfur, elements that help make chlorophyll.
Chlorophyll’s job in a plant is to absorb light—usually sunlight. The energy absorbed from light is transferred to two kinds of energy-storing molecules. Through photosynthesis, the plant uses the stored energy to convert carbon dioxide (absorbed from the air) and water into glucose, a type of sugar.
How to Make Banana Peel Tea?
It’s simple!
1. Cut the peel from a few bananas into small pieces.
2. Place the peel in a jar (with a lid) and fill it with water.
3. Let them sit in a cool place to ferment for 1-2 weeks (up to you).
That’s it! Mix half the mixer to a gallon of water and apply to the soil around your plants.
